MUTARE’s own jewel, Anesu Hokoyo will tonight (Friday) face 14 other contestants from across the country at the much-anticipated Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant to be held at Rainbow Towers in Harare.

Hokoyo in an earlier interview confided with The Weekender that her major prayer was to survive the chop at the on-going boot camp and she surely did after Audrey Mhungu and Rutendo Taruvinga were booted out of the camp after failing to meet the requirements of the pageant.

And tonight, Hokoyo will face other beauties in the biggest contest of her life, hoping to come up tops and clinch the coveted title.

Miss Tourism Zimbabwe patron, Barbra Mzembi was recently quoted in our sister paper, The Herald, saying they focused on several aspects as part of the elimination process which started from the first day of the boot camp.

But who really is Anesu?
“I am a second year student at Africa University studying Public Administration. I stay in Murambi in Mutare.
I enjoy telling people stories that always leave them tongue-tied and exhilarated. I won’t stop going for random camps in different places around the world with my family. I enjoy getting to know different people and making them feel comfortable as my college accommodates 29 countries from Africa.

“Despite my present degree, I am going to be a brilliant, influential lawyer in the next seven years. Watching cartoons, going to the gym and swimming regularly keeps me at ease and at peace as I am at most of the times caught up in many clubs, school work , and activities at school….” reads part of her profile on Miss Tourism Zw page on Facebook.

In an interview, Miss Tourism Zimbabwe spokesperson, Alson Darikayi, said preparations were at an advanced stage with an array of local and regional artistes set to stage live performances.

South African musician, Dr Malinga of the Via Orlando fame, heir to the dendera throne, Sulumani Chimbetu, Zim-dancehall chanter, Shinsoman, songbirds, Selmor Mtukudzi and Ammara Brown among others are expected to provide entertainment at the potentially-explosive pageant.

The whole event will be broadcast live on ZTV.

“Boot camp ends on Friday (today) and we are glad to announce that preparations are extremely on track. The boot camp ran to the last day of the event.
We have 30 technical crew as well as experts in stage, sound and production.
We intend to come up with a flawless, polished and world class event that will capture the hearts of many across the world,” said Darikayi.
