A LUCKY panther, Mr Charles Munyaradzi Chinhara of Mutare, last Friday night won a brand new FAW one-tonne truck during the Montclair Casino draw held at the hotel.

Mr Chinhara’s entry ticket was among 448 entries received during the promotion which was launched by outgoing Manicaland Provincial Administrator, Mr Fungai Mbetsa in August.

Montclair Hotel and Casino went into partnership with car manufacturing company, FAW to sponsor the promotion, which saw three vehicles being lined up for grabs. The first draw was held in Harare recently, where Mr Joe Maponga won the first one-tonne truck.

The grand draw will be held in Harare on Friday where the winner will drive away in a brand new eight-tonne FAW truck.

Other lucky winners during last Friday’s draw include, Mr Riz of Nyanga who won a trip for two to Johannesburg, South Africa and the elderly Mrs Annacleta Barbara Chinyowa also of Nyanga who won a trip for two to Victoria Falls.

Speaking during the draw, Minister for Information, Communication and Technology and Courier Services, Cde Supa Mandiwanzira, applauded Montclair Hotel for bringing life back to Nyanga through refurbishing its hotel.

“We are excited about developments in the tourism industry here in Nyanga especially at Montclair Hotel. The management here should be applauded for refurbishing this hotel which was suffering from neglect. The refurbishment of this hotel has helped in creating employment for the locals. Besides creating employment for the locals, it has also created a lot of business opportunities for the downstream industries here in Nyanga as well as farmers who are the major producers of food consumed here,” he said.

In an interview, Montclair Hotel director, Mr William Nyemba, applauded the support they were getting from locals.

“We are very excited as management that all the winners of the casino draw are locals from Manicaland. This goes to show that we are enjoying a lot of support from the people of this province. As a player in the tourism industry, we are doing our best in promoting Nyanga as a tourist destination of choice. Our bookings are improving and we are almost fully booked for Christmas and New Year holidays.

“We have everything for everyone including children. We have also lined up a lot of entertainment activities for all those who will be visiting us during the Christmas holiday,” said Mr Nyemba.

As part of its expansion drive, Montclair Hotel has taken over the management of Claremont Golf Course.

“We want to give visitors to Nyanga a full package and that is the reason why we took over the management of Claremont Golf Course. Golfers should find Montclair as the most convenient place to visit,” he said.

On future plans, Mr Nyemba, said they would continue engaging their corporate partner, FAW to partner them in future promotions and competitions.

“We want to express gratitude to the support we got from FAW. We want to have bigger promotions in future and we want to thank FAW for their unwavering support. Next year, we promise our clients something bigger and we will engage them on the prizes. We want to give out prizes that have real value to our clients,” said Mr Nyemba.
