PICK and Save Superette owner and entertainment promoter, Isau Mupfumi is eyeing the outstanding music promoter of the year award at the Wene Music Awards organised by Rooftop Promotions. Mupfumi has managed to bring various local and regional artistes among them, Progress Chipfumo, Jah Prayzah, Alick Macheso, Soul Jah Love, Fungisai, Charles Charamba, Slizer, Big Nuz, Pah Chihera, Suluman, Winky D, Blessing Shumba and Hosiah Chipanga to his Mutare joint.

In a statement released last month, Rooftop Promotions said closing date for submissions was August 21.
The awards have 33 categories and will be held on October 29 at a venue to be announced.

Read part of the statement, “The closing date for submission is midnight on August 21 to allow the Board of Adjudicators two full months of deliberations, judging and decision of the Adjudicators. Panel is strictly and emphatically confidential during its process.

“Musicians should look forward to awards such as Best Live Stage Act, Visual, Choreography and Musical that will be purely based on live performances. Awards that have been held before have never recognised the group or band that has supported the lead vocalist but come end of October one Group/Band will go home as winner of the Outstanding Band Award.”

Mupfumi pledged to continue supporting artistes and nurture talents of upcoming musicians.
“Musicians need our support. Promoting is not about looking for money but nurturing talent. We will continue to support and bring various musicians to Mutare,” he said.
