THREE workers employed by Rusape Messenger of Court were recently arrested for allegedly stealing cash from a judgment debtor.

The trio, Chisero Paradzai, Pardon Mutasa and Taruvinga Tafirenyika who were all not represented pleaded not guilty when they appeared before Rusape magistrate, Mr Shane Kubonera who adjourned the matter to Monday for continuation of trial.

Public prosecutor, Mr Tafara Chawatama, told the court that the trio stole $550 from Loveness Chimene (53) when they attached household property from her homestead.

The trio in their defence denied ever stealing money, saying Chimene was just fixing them for attaching her property.

“On February 16 at around 10am and at Number 289, Nyazura Township, the three accused persons working on a warrant of execution against Loveness Chimene proceeded to her house and attached property in which there was $250 which was hidden in it and also stole $300 which was in Chimene’s bedroom. The accused persons then went away during the absence of Chimene. The stolen $550 was not recovered,” said Mr Chawatama.
