MANICALANAD’S leading male gospel musicians, Blessing Shumba and Peter Masuka, have combined forces to record a single, Zvasiyana.
Zvasiyana which was composed by the versatile Masuka was released last Friday and is already receiving favourable airplay on local radio stations.
In an interview, Masuka said his combination with Shumba was likely to pay dividends to both parties as they brought different styles and flavours on the song.
He added that as gospel artistes they were not driven by competition, but by the desire to spread the word of God.
“I am so happy that we managed to record the song with Blessing Shumba, besides us all having other pressing commitments. We want to spread the word of God, our saviour through music. If time permits we can actually have a joint album with Blessing Shumba. The song has been well received by listeners and it is also being played on all radio stations. Shumba brought his style and combined it well with mine and this makes the song so special despite the deep message.
“The message in Zvasiyana is that of change. If God comes to your life, everything changes for good. People must always pray so that positive change takes place in their lives. The song was recorded at Kunashe Studios and produced by Olin Anderson,” said Masuka.
Meanwhile, Masuka added that work was in progress to record his eighth album which he intends to release in April.
