“I cannot wait to go and represent Manicaland.

“I am, however, thankful to my school and parents for being supportive in my education as my dream is to become a medical doctor,” he said.

Mupikati who came out with eight As at Ordinary Level last year is a Lower Sixth student and studying Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at the Sakubva high-density suburb situated school.

He urged other STEM students in the country to work hard so that they enjoy the fruits of their hard work in the future.

Elise Gledhill High School headmaster, Mr Johnson Mabvumbe, said as a school they felt highly honoured that one of their own was chosen to travel to the USA and represent the province.

“A student from our school was chosen and it just shows how God works in mysterious ways.

“We have a lot of popular schools in Manicaland, but here is Elise Gledhills, a school that is in the outskirts of the city’s oldest suburb making its name in the history of the STEM tour. We are so proud as a school,” said Mr Mabvumbe.

He went on to urge other school heads to embrace the STEM initiative and encourage their students to enroll in Science subjects.
