MUTARE-based dance ensemble, Mandisa Queens stole the light at this year’s Dancehall Association of Zimbabwe competitions held last week when they lifted the best dance group outside Harare award.

One of its regular pole dancers, Tatiana Gwatidzo also won a certificate of appreciation for her immense contribution to the dance industry.

DAZ president Harpers Mapimhidze said honouring the waist wriggling sexy dancers was long overdue.

“They have done their best; their consistency has been above the rest. I would like to congratulate the outfit for coming out tops. I wish them the best,” he said.

Mandisa Queens chairperson, Boniface Nyamanhindi said he was humbled by the recognition. “It is humbling to be recognised among outstanding dance groups in the country. We will continue to up our game and work towards making the group a formidable outfit,” he said.

Meanwhile, after hosting a bumper crowd at Leonard Zhakata’s gig last weekend, the venue will host Zim dancehall chanter Shinsoman tomorrow (Saturday). Shinsoman is famous for hits like “Mawaya waya”, “Makomborero”, “Zvidhafu dhafu”, “Mukoma” and “Handikendenge” , among others. He will be performing at the venue for the first time.
