Manchester United ban residents

MANCHESTER United appear to be having trouble with noisy neighbours again – as dog walkers were banned from passing through their top secret training ground following complaints about “anti-social behaviour”.

Local residents are furious about the block, which means they can no longer use a footpath that skirts around the Red Devils’ £60 million Aon Training Complex.

Club security guards have been handing out letters instructing the half-mile track – popular with cyclists and horse riders for decades – is no longer open to the public.

Residents were first told about the ban last month when guards, wearing high visibility jackets, began handing out paper letters at an electric barrier that grants access to the ground for cars.

The notices, dated January 13, read: “Access beyond this barrier is not permitted. No access by any means will be granted beyond this point.

“The road beyond this barrier is private and any unauthorised access will be treated as trespass by the landowner, HIMOR (Carrington) Limited.”

Land and property giant HIMOR, who own the area of land the pathway sits on, claim they were forced to act to prevent “anti-social behaviour that has caused health and safety concerns”.

The company, who are in the process of a £100million development in the area, say people have been fly-tipping, digging for bottles, and motor-cross riding on the land. – Online.
