A CHIPINGE man was last week whipped to death for allegedly stealing two beasts which belonged to his friend.   Watson Chikumbu, 40, died before admission at Zamuchiya Clinic, after sustaining serious injuries.

The suspect Thomas Mabuwe allegedly whipped the deceased with a sjambok. Deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the incident which happened in Chief Musikvanhu’s area on June 12.

“The deceased had bruises all over his body. He sustained serious injuries and died before he was taken to hospital. We have since launched a manhunt to bring to book the culprit who vanished soon after committing the heinous act,” he said.

He urged members of the public to solve disputes amicably and maturely than resorting to violence.  Mabuwe visited the deceased’s homestead on June 12 at around 3pm.

He approached him and accused him of stealing his two beasts. The fugitive suspect manhandled the deceased and took him away.

However, Chikumbu later returned home alone and told his nephew, Fungai Simango that the suspect had assaulted him all over his body.
