Chipinge Correspondent —
A JILTED Chipinge man (37) allegedly broke into his estranged wife’s house and destroyed property worth $450.

Samuel Moyana of House Number3705, ZBS high-density, Chipinge allegedly went to Pindai Zineku (32)’s place of residence and destroyed her four wooden chairs, one wooden table, a 21-inch television set, a two-plate stove, wooden base bed, various plates and cups and a mattress.

Moyana admitted committing the offence when he appeared before magistrate, Mr Vusomuzi Gapara.

He is alleged to have contravened Section 4(1) as read with Section 3(1)(h) of the Domestic Violence Act, Chapter 5.16 (malicious damage to property).

However, the accused person begged for mercy from the court and said he was under the influence of alcohol when he committed the offence.

It is alleged that on January 15, at around 9pm at House Number 2220, Gaza O high-density, Chipinge, Zineku was in her house where she heard a knock at the door and opened the door for Moyana.

Moyana entered into the house and he told Zineku that he wanted his property they had bought together back.

He told her that he wanted the base bed and the television set out of her house.

When Zineku was taking the television outside the house, Moyana proceeded to damage the remaining property which was in the house.

Zineku ran to the police to make a report.

Moyana was arrested. He is expected to be sentenced today. Mr Witness Nyamundaya prosecuted.
