In a murder case that has left the community of Muzokomba in Buhera District shell shocked, a 23-year-old man stabbed to death his blood brother in a dispute over sadza.Manicaland Police Spokesman Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed to The Manica Post that Shakemore Chimwata stabbed his elder brother Knowledge Chimwata after the former ordered the now deceased Knowledge not to eat sadza prepared by his wife.

“Knowledge Chimwata 24, Shakemore Chimwata 23 and Tendai Chimwata 20, on December 27, 2016 left home proceeding to Mutero Bottle store for a beer drink around 7am. Around 7pm the three brothers came back home.

“They found Angeline Mashame 20, wife to Shakemore with their grandmother Pedzini Takamira 92, in the kitchen preparing supper. Shakemore instructed his wife not to cook for Knowledge. A misunderstanding arose resulting in Knowledge taking the cooking stick from Angeline and began cooking sadza.

“Shakemore picked the pot from the fire place and threw it away. He took a kitchen knife and put it in his pocket. Knowledge took a stick and hit Shakemore twice on the back. In retaliation Shakemore stabbed Knowledge once on the left thigh and he sustained a deep cut.

“He was rushed to Mutepfa Clinic and was referred to Birchnough Bridge Hospital for further treatment but they failed to get transport. His condition deteriorated and December 28, 2016 around 3 am Knowledge died.

Inspector Kakohwa urged people to resolve differences amicably to avoid the unnecessary loss of lives.

“People must never resort to violence whenever disputes arose. Problems must be solved amicably. Human life is so precious and must not be lost because of petty differences.
