A NYAKAMETE woman was arrested after sending insulting messages to her ex-husband, Rasheed Chinhema (40), labelling him a wizard for divorcing her and marrying another.
Catherine Muchena (39) pleaded guilty to the charges.
Mutare magistrate, Mr Innocent Bepura presided over the matter.
Public prosecutor, Mr Fletcher Karombe, told the court that from a period ranging between March 17 to March 20, the accused person sent several messages insulting the complainant using abusive and obscene language with her mobile phone.
Some of the messages that were read in court read: “Kuzoisa status yeHoly spirit haagari patsvina wakazotanga kuziva mweyamutsvene rini iwe musatanist munin’ina wasatan.
“Hapana zvaunondiita chokwadi chabaya.
“Vana wakati anoziva ndimai kt ndevani.
“Muroyi muroyi shaa hazvichinje. . .
“Kana ukanzi uraya vana unouraya kuita kunge wakatogurirwawo huroyi. . .”
When asked why she was being abusive to her ex-husband, Muchena alleged that Chinhema and his new wife were abusing her children and sending her evil spirit.
“They are abusing my children and I could not keep quiet,” she said.
Mr Bepura fined her $100 or to spent 15 days imprisonment for violating Section 88 of the Postal Telecommunication Act, which reads: “Sending by telephone messages which are threatening, obscene and indecent character.”
