A Honde Valley man, who disappeared for days, prompting fellow villagers to conduct a
search, was eventually found dead with some of his body parts missing.
Donemor Sanyoka (23) of Magadu Village was last week found dead near Nyamuchingura River.
Although his body was now in an advanced state of decomposition, homicide detectives found out that some of his private parts had been removed, in a case which is now being treated as murder for ritual purposes. Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, said the deceased’s body was found after a search by villagers.
“Sanyoka stayed alone and he left home to take a bath at the river last week. He was seen by his neighbour, Vengesai Mutari,” said Insp Kakohwa
“After realising that the deceased had disappeared for days, the informant Vengesai told the village head, Themba Magadu of the case. The traditional leader then instructed villagers to conduct a search and they later found the decomposing body of the deceased near the river.”
Insp Kakohwa said they were treating the matter as murder and investigations are underway.
The deceased’s body has since been taken to hospital for post mortem.
