MADZIRO butchery manager Simbarashe Chakandinakira, who was facing charges of negligently causing bodily harm, is now a free man following his acquittal by a Mutare court.

Chakandinakira was acquitted by Mutare provincial magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe last week. He was being charged with negligently causing serious bodily harm. The charges arose after Knowledge Kaseke, whose hand had been accidentally amputated by a machine at Madziro Abattoir, had filed the criminal charges against him. Chakandinakira, who was being represented by Mutare lawyer, Mr Hugo Tanaya of Tanaya Law firm, denied the charges.

Mr Mr Brian Goto prosecuted.

Mr Goto had told the court that on June 20, 2016 Kaseke was repairing a mincer machine at Madziro Abattoir on the outskirts of Mutare.

He further alleged that Chakandinakira switched on the electric mincer machine while Kaseke was still repairing it, leading to the accidental amputation of his hand on the shoulder by the machine.
