ZANU-PF’S Manicaland provincial chairman, Cde Mike Madiro, has welcomed the re-introduction of District Co-ordinating Committees, saying  banishing them had seen some members of the National Assembly personalising the party, thereby making it dysfunctional at grassroots.

In an interview on Tuesday ahead of the party’s Extraordinary Congress in Harare today, Cde Madiro said the party had been personalised by some members of National Assembly as they were not answerable to anyone in their respective districts.

“As Manicaland, we welcome the resolution by the Central Committee to reintroduce District Co-ordinating Committees which help in managing the party’s grassroots. Through DCCs, the span of control will be streamlined. We realised that the party had been compromised by some MPs who were now personalising it.

“Some structures were now dysfunctional as a result. Some MPs were doing everything by themselves without any supervision. They had become the alpha and omega of the party. DCCs create synergies and we applaud the Central Committee’s decision to re-introduce them,” said Cde Madiro.
