CELEBRATED sungura kingpin, Alick Macheso and Orchestra Mberikwazvo has promised to quench his fans’ insatiable hunger for new music when he performs at The Platinum, formerly Pick and Save, tonight (Friday).
Macheso, in an interview this week, revealed that he was going to dish out all new songs from his forthcoming album due for release next month. He said he could not resist his fans’ call for new songs everytime he performs live at the spacious entertainment joint.
Guitarists, Noel Nyazanda, Mike “Maikoro” Adrion, Obert “Double kicker” Gomba and Jonasi Kasamba who did not feature on last year’s project are expected to play critical roles on the yet-to-be-christened project which is nearing its completion.
Macheso, a gifted bassist last released chartbuster album, ‘‘Tsoka Dzerwendo’’ (Ayayaa) early last year.
“Our fans in Mutare always want the best of us. We cannot afford to disappoint them. The last time we performed there we put up a memorable show because we dished out a blend of old and some of the new songs contained on the yet to be released album. This time, however, we will make sure that we will present songs that will be on the new album. We are ready for the gig and we urge our fans to come in their numbers and witness some new and polished acts,” said Alick, speaking through his manager, Lucky Macheso.
Macheso’s rich discography include yesteryear hits such as ‘Mundikumbuke’’, ‘‘Shedia’’, ‘‘Zvakanaka Zvakadaro’’, ‘‘Sarah’’, ‘‘Madhuwe’’, ‘‘Tafadzwa’’ as well as songs from his last album, ‘‘Tsoka Dzerwendo’’, popular among them, ‘‘Gungwa’’, ‘‘Kurarama Inyasha’’ and ‘‘Mude-Mude’’.
The show starts at 8pm till the last man drops. Fun lovers will part with $5 as entrance fee.
An array of local artistes will warm the stage for Macheso and Orchestra Mberikwazvo.
