SUNGURA heavyweight, Alick Macheso tonight returns to Mutare for a gig at The Platinum — formerly Pick and Save — this time with new songs, dances and a dancer.

Macheso on Tuesday said he would unleash new songs to be contained on his yet-to-be-christened forthcoming album scheduled to be released in March.

“We will release a new album every March. We will not starve our fans. We are already playing the new songs elsewhere and the response has been overwhelming despite the fact that we dropped a bombshell, Tsoka dzerwendo in March this year.

“I am in love with Mutare. Fans there make us feel special. Our dancers will present a new dance called Muzerere. We are coming with a new dance called Muzerere. It’s a new and captivating dance that will draw the attention of many,” said Alick, speaking through his manager, Lucky Macheso.

The talented bassist recently roped in a new dancer called Kariba. The star-studied Orchestra Mberikwazvo was this year boosted by the return of prodigal sons, Noel Nyazanda, Obert Gomba and Jonasi Kasamba who are well loved by legion of sungura fans. The show starts at 8pm.

Besides belting out tracks from his recently released hot album, Tsoka Dzerwendo such as Gungwa, Mude Mude and Wandirangaridza, the shrewd bassist is expected to belt out yesteryear hits that made him a household name such as Mundikumbuke, Shedia, Pakutema Munda, Sarah and the award-winning Tafadzwa Nyarara.

The gifted songwriter will have a hectic festive season as he will travel to Chipinge for a gig at Dzonzayi Complex on Sunday before proceeding to Checheche to perform at Zineku Bar. On Monday he will play at Mudamburi Gardens in Chivi.

He dates fans in Mberengwa at Donhodzo Bar on Tuesday before he travels to Mazowe. He, on New Year’s Day, will serenade fans at Extramile Pambudzi.
