MINISTER of State for Manicaland provincial affairs, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa has called on all Zanu PF aspiring candidates vying for local authorities positions to listen to the people’s wishes as they prepare for the July 30 harmonised elections.

Addressing Zanu PF supporters at a rally held in Dangamvura last Friday, Sen Mutsvangwa said leadership under the new dispensation puts people first and exercise servant leadership.

Sen Mutsvangwa also urged Zanu PF supporters to vote for President Mnangagwa and the ruling party saying it is the only party that has a record of liberating Zimbabwe.

Cde Esau Mupfumi is vying for Dangamvura/Chikanga seat on Zanu PF ticket.

“We have President Mnangagwa who came with the issue of fighting corruption which has been bedeviling this nation. We are saying we want leaders who listen to the people. People are the ones with powers and they should select leaders of their choice after every five years. President is saying let us unite and fight corruption together,” she said.

Sen Mutsvangwa said President Mnangagwa’s leadership was different from the former President Mr Robert Mugabe as the former is a listening leader.

Zanu PF aspiring candidate for Dangamvura/Chikanga constituency Cde Mupfumi said it was high time council officials be held accountable for their actions.

He accused them of being corrupt at the expense of residents who have been failing to enjoy service delivery for a very long time.

“We are now appealing to the council, Mr Maligwa, to look into the issue of Gimboki. People who are settled there used to pay money for their stands and they have since stopped.

“We are saying council look into the issue and place Gimboki under city council. We want to remove some double allocations and there are pieces of land which are not occupied and we want to those pieces of land to be allocated to people,” he said.

Cde Mupfumi also took a swipe at MDC-led council for failing to address water problems face by residents in Dangamvura.

He accused city council officials for flouting tender process and misappropriation of funds.

“People are waking up as early as 2am to look for water. We once applied for money from the Government and the money was allocated to council. The money was misappropriated and they failed to follow due diligence and gave the tender to a brief case company. All the efforts are being stalled at council,” he said.

Cde Mupfumi also talked of the need to address anomalies in the council’s water billing system which he said is prejudicing residents.
