MUTARE based  enterprise, Majoh Launderettes on Monday handed over formal clothing to the elderly people at Zororai Old People’s Home in Sakubva.

The donation was part of the firm’s initiative where it gives back to the less privileged in the community.

Mr Richard and Mrs Miriam Manyau of Major Launderettes handed over more than 150 suits to the Sister-In-Charge at Zororai Old People’s home, Sister Blandina Mariko.

The donations also included winter and leather jackets.

Mrs Manyau said that this was just the beginning of a relationship between the dry cleaning enterprise and the old people’s home.

“Majoh Launderette is determined to support deserving charity homes in the province. Old people’s homes and child protection organizations are some of the institutions that need continuous support,” said Mrs Manyau.

“These are clothes that most of our bad debtors left and failed to come and collect since 2012. We only give them an ultimatum of three months before selling their goods in order to cover our own expenses. However, instead of selling these clothes that have been at our offices for more than four years, we have decided to give them to the elderly people who deserve them,” she said.

She further promised that the company will also help in cleaning suits for the elderly.

Expressing her gratitude, Sister Mariko said: “It is important for businesses and churches to support the vulnerable, especially the old people who have no one to look after them.

“This institution is very happy to receive clothing from Majoh Launderettes. Our grandparents feel so honoured for receiving the clothing, for they were in real need of suits for special occasions like going to church and in cases where we have visitors coming to the institution.

“I am further appealing to Major Launderettes to continue coming and encourage other organisations to support us,” she added.

Zororai Old People’s Home looks after a total of 14 elderly people, who are homeless, and 12 of them are males, while two are females.
