A 38-year-old woman was at the weekend kidnapped by eight unknown men at the 172km peg along Mutare-Masvingo Highway and was dumped in a mountainous area near Gudyanga Business Centre with her undergarments, cell phone and cash missing.

She is also suspecting that she was raped.

Manicaland provincial police spokesman, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident and said the woman, who cannot be named, had boarded a Toyota Noah at Roy Turnoff in Gutu enroute town on Saturday night when she was kidnapped.

The vehicle had eight men on board and after driving for about seven kilometres, the driver made a U-turn and headed towards Birchenough Bridge. Before she could ask where they were going, she suddenly lost consciousness.

When she woke up the following day at around 6am in Birchenough, she discovered that her cellphone and $7 cash were missing.
