A KOMBI driver who had gone to relieve himself and left the keys on the ignition got the shock of his life when he returned to find the vehicle missing at the busy Chigodora Rank in downtown Mutare. The incident happened on Wednesday at around 5pm during the rush hour.

Although Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, said he was yet to receive the vehicle theft report, detectives handling the case said yesterday (Thursday) morning that they were following leads.

“The stolen vehicle is a Toyota Hiace which is white in colour. Its registration number is ADC 0778. Information that we have at the moment shows that the driver of the kombi which belongs to Kenneth Gwite of House Number 46, Area 15 in Dangamvura parked the car at Chigodora Rank and left the keys on the ignition.

“He came back later and found the vehicle missing. A police report was made. Right now we are on the ground trying to figure out what really happened,” said a detective who refused to be named citing protocol.
