JUST IN: Mutare High Court nears completion

THE High Court in Mutare is set to open soon, a development that makes justice more accessible to the people.

While officially opening the 2018 legal year for the circuit court in the eastern border city today, Justice Joseph Musakwa said this might be the last time Mutare will operate as a circuit court.

“It is my assumption that this may be the last time Mutare may operate as a circuit court. This is because following in the footsteps of Masvingo, Mutare is poised to be the next city to host the High Court on a permanent basis. What remains is the completion of the court complex and the deployment of judges who will preside over the court,” he said.

The establishment of a permanent court, said Justice Musakwa, is an important development in the decentralization of the High Court as this makes justice at this level more accessible.
