POPULAR Zimdancehall emcees, Judgement Yard, of Flevah and Etherton B will make a return to Mutare for the pre-Christmas party tonight (Friday) at the uptown nightclub BarCode.

DJ’s Flevah and Etherton whose real names are Tendai Tembo and Etherton Mutemasango last rocked the city in October when they had a countrywide tour to celebrate their four-year anniversary as the Zi-Judgement Yard.

Over the years, reggae and dancehall music genres have taken over the local entertainment scene which has seen the rise of so many artistes and Zimdancehall.

The popularity of Zimdancehall also saw an increase in emcee groups, known as sound houses.

However, a few have stood the test of time, but Judgement Yard is among the few that have managed to maintain their dominance in the highly competitive Zimdancehall entertainment industry.

Since its formation in 2009, comprising of I-Randu, DJ Flevah, Etherton Bennie, 2 Bad and Asha B, the sound clash has been a hit not only on radio but on the club scene as well.

This year they had a busy year after touring the United Kingdom early this year and in November toured Australia, raising the Zimdancehall flag.

On Tuesday Flevah told the Weekender that 2016 was one of their best years ever. He promised Mutare revellers a good show to boost the festive mood.

“2016 was really good for us because we managed to tap into the Australian market and we also toured UK, Botswana and Namibia. The Botswana tour was with Winky D and it was sold out. It feels great knowing that there are people outside the country who also want to see us play live rather than just listen to our mix tapes or on radio,” said DJ Flevah.

DJ Flevah said international tours would take the Judgement Yard brand and Zimdancehall to a wider audience.

“Our following locally is overwhelming but the next step will be penetrating the international market, so these shows outside the country are giving us that opportunity to market ourselves out there.”

BarCode spokesperson Brian Mavhiza popularly known as DJ Stylez said the show came by popular demand.

“We decided to bring Judgement Yard as an early Christmas present after many revellers requested for the popular chanters,” said DJ Stylez.

Judgement Yard’s last performance in Mutare was to a full-house proving why they are among the most sought after reggae and sound houses in the country.
