SAVE for a few atheists, most people know and believe that there is a superior being over life who has to be worshipped for life to move on smoothly.  The problem comes when we now need to come up with the correct way of worshipping this being and also describing his identity.

Different cultures and religions have come up with descriptions of God and how we ought to relate with Him.  That is why today we have Christians, Hindus, Moslems, traditionalists and many other religions all claiming to be doing the right thing in worshipping this superior being.

Some have gone to the extent of idolising human characters of both the living and the dead, some have created artifacts or idols to bolster their confessed beliefs, while others believe in a spiritual hierarchy of the dead in the form of ancestors.

The Christian faith, however, has stood out to be one of the most popular if not the most popular religion in the world today.

While this religion gives pre-eminence to Jesus Christ, God-incarnate who lived over two thousand years ago, the important difference with all other religions is that Jesus died, but death could not hold him for over three days because according to Apostle Peter in Acts 2 verse 24 it was not possible for death to hold on to him.

So more important to this Christian faith is the fact that we serve a living God, we believe in a resurrected Christ who is available to all who believe through the power of the Holy Ghost.  He is the master of our lives and to prove this before he had called his disciples according to the Gospel of Luke 5 v 1-11, Jesus approached Peter and his fellow fishermen who were at the lake and washing their nets.

Jesus requested to use their boat so that he could teach from it because the crowds were pressing him.

The soon-to-be disciples duly complied and hired their boat to Jesus.

After doing his preaching Jesus advised or rather commanded Peter to thrust their nets into the deep for a catch.

This was shocking and insulting to Peter and his fellows because according to Peter “They had toiled the whole night without catching anything.”

However, in verse 5 of Luke Chapter Five, Peter answers and said: “Master, we have toiled the whole night and have caught nothing: nevertheless at your word I will let down the net or I will do as you have said.”

Peter realised that this was no ordinary man speaking, it was the Master speaking and His word had power to change the situation.

When he threw down the net into the water the catch was great and they struggled to bring it out of the water.

The Master had spoken and it happened contrary to what they had experienced the whole night.

The same Master, Jesus Christ, is speaking to your life today, Thrust your nets deeper for a bigger catch.”

Your business is collapsing, your marriage is not working, your career is in shambles, your ministry is directionless, listen to Jesus today.

Hear what the Master is saying to your situation. Seek for a fresh word from the Lord.

It is not over yet.  There is an answer from the Most High.

Don’t give up.  There is a lot to live for.

Just listen and do what the Master says.  Your life is empty but Jesus Christ is ready to fill it with good things as long as you believe and are ready to walk with him.

Be blessed!
