GIFTED contemporary musician, Jah Prayzah, now aims at storming the international musical scene and carves a niche for himself away from home after achieving a feat in the local musical industry.
Born Mukudzei Mukombe, the lanky musician shifted focus away from the sex abuse allegations levelled against him by his former dancer and backing vocalist, Pamela Zulu, affectionately known as Gonyeti, when he put up a sterling performance at the just-ended Manicaland Agricultural Show.
Speaking after his performance, the multi-award winning musician, said he was eyeing international market through improving his brand and match internationals standards since he feels he has achieved a lot locally.
He, however, could not be drawn into commenting about the allegations by Gonyeti who unceremoniously left the Third Generation Band to form own outfit, The Horse Power Band due to various reasons, among them, poor working conditions.
“I am now working on improving my brand to be recognised internationally. I am satisfied with the fame and success that I have attained so far locally. I am also encouraged by the support that I get during shows, particularly here in Mutare. Last week has been a busy week for me and the Third Generation Band since I am working on a video for the song, Mudhara Vachauya that we shot in South Africa. The video carries a powerful love concept blended with a military aspect. I can assure my fans that the video is going to be scorcher,” he said.
Typical of an iconic musician, Jah Prayzah was given a standing ovation by a rapturous crowd that stampeded to catch a glimpse of the man-of-the moment.
Some jostled for some Kodak moments with the revered lyricist, but the Third Generation Band security team made sure he could not be distracted.
The overjoyed crowd was left clamouring for more after he belted out for close to two hours with a blend of old and new songs such as Mudhara Vachauya, Watora Mari and Vanorodza Musewe.
Gospel and Zim-dancehall newcomer, Fungisai, Zim Dancehall sensation, Soul Jah Love, jazz crooner, Steve Chikoti, among a flurry of upcoming local artistes also mesmerised the bumper crowd.
