It was like a dream . . .

THE God we serve is a God of miracles. He is a God of both pleasant and nasty surprises. There are times when this God, who is also known as Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, seems not to care for us. There are times when He is so quiet that you would wonder if ever He hears our prayers.

You pray and pray and no one seems to hear and suddenly people begin to give you explanations and reasons for your not getting answers from the Lord. Some will tell you that it is because of sin, which could be true, others will say you are making a wrong prayer altogether, while others will even say you don’t have enough faith.

While they say this to you still believe that you have prayed the way you should and have also done what needs to be done to get God’s attention but still nothing. You have fasted, you have done all night prayers, have given sacrificially and been faithfully paying your tithes, you look after the poor and orphans and you don’t miss church services, but still no solution.

The Bible says God’s ways are not our ways and even his time is not our time. In His own good time He makes things work. The children of Israel had been in captivity for over 400 years and the hope for rescue and deliverance had all, but gone. Bondage had become normal and slavery was now an accepted way of life, but when God’s time came, it came when they least expected it.

It came even when Pharaoh their oppressor was thinking that he was invincible and the bondage he was subjecting the children of Israel to was a permanent arrangement. He could kill whoever and whenever he wished. His word had power and life for him was super, but he forgot one thing that one day with the Lord is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day.

Finally, God visited His people and rescued them through Moses, Aaron and Miriam and the rest of the story we know. That is why in Psalm 126 verses 1-6 the word of God says: “When the Lord turned (removed) or reversed the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, the Lord has done great things for them.

The Lord has done great things for us whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that go forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing sheaves with him.” There we go. When God’s timeous answer and solution comes it will be like a dream.

You will not believe it is happening when your marriage, or job, or degree, or healing, deliverance or promotion comes after waiting for so long. God is still answering prayers. He answered Zimbabwe’s prayers. He can answer your prayers too. Just wait. Keep believing. Your miracle is just around the corner and when it happens be certain that you will not believe it because it will sound and look too good to be true. Be blessed.
