A POTENTIALLY exciting reality show, which will be beamed on national broadcaster ZTV, online and Youtube with the winning man and woman set to collect a collective prize of US$40 000, will have its audition in Mutare next Wednesday and Thursday as part of the nationwide whirlwind tour to select perfect candidates to partake in the reality show.

The Mutare auditions, which come after the Masvingo auditions that will be held next Tuesday, will be staged at a local hotel. The auditions in Bulawayo are slated for today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) while auditions in the Gweru will be held on Sunday and Monday.

Auditions will also be done in the capital on November 4 to 6. The InsideOut Reality Show is a reality television show where 26 participants, (13 male and 13 female) embark on a quest of discovery and adventure around Zimbabwe’s most exquisite tourist resorts and attractions.

The tour-mates will be under continuous round the clock camera surveillance.
They will be voted out of the incredible quest by the viewers through text, phone and web voting.

The programme kicks off on the January 1, 2017 at the Matopo Hills Resort and proceeds on an anticlockwise trek around Zimbabwe touching and savoring Great Zimbabwe, Lake Kyle, Gonarezhou Game reserve , Chimanimani, Vumba, and Nyanga Mountains.

From there, it carries on through Harare (Chivero/Mfurudzi) to Chinhoyi Caves, Mana Pools, and Kariba. From Kariba it’s an incredulous boat cruise to Bumi Hills and Binga. Then from Binga the journey sets off to Hwange National Park then to Victoria Falls where the final six will remain.

The last leg from Victoria Falls to Harare is by air to the Grand Finale on New Year’s Eve at the exquisite function to be hosted at the Manna Lodges in Glen Lorne. At the Finale there will be double celebrations for the winning contestants and the end of year massive fireworks at midnight. The winning duo will be announced an hour before Midnight.

The DropOut sessions where unpopular tour mates will be dropped from the journey will be held on a weekly basis, with two contestants being dropped out each week.  During the week, six tour mates will be nominated for the Drop Out and the public will vote to keep in their favourite tour mate.

The tour mates with the least votes will be dropped out of the quest. In an interview with the Weekender, spokesperson of the organisers of the reality show Sanpoulus Maplanka outlined the nature of the competition.

“This is a game show where participants are competing for a price which is given out only to the last man and woman standing. It is indeed a popularity based program where 26 participants are voted out by the viewing public every Sunday at designated DropOut zones. The DropOut sessions will be broadcast live or with a slight delay, technology allowing. These will take place every Sunday.

“From the onset, the participants will be required to introduce themselves to each other and then live with each other in and around a Nomads Style tour truck as it travels around famous tourist attractions around Zimbabwe. The tour mates will be travelling backpackers’ style and will be sleeping in tents and camps along the way.

They will be required to work as a team.  They also will be divided into groups to perform certain tasks of which the losing group may be required to nominate within their group the people to be voted out.

“The winning teams or individuals will be rewarded in various forms, for example they may be hosted for a day by a 5 star hotel and given full pampering for a day, while their losing peers are left wallowing in the campsite. They may also be immune to nominations for evictions.

“Voting will continue with each venue visited until six are left who will reach the ultimate destination. The final DropOut will be done on a live show at the final destination in Harare. The Finale will be a lavish party that will be held at the Manna Lodge in Glenlorne and pre-booked tables will be available for corporates and other sponsors for free, also on the invite will be some of those that attended auditions but did not make it.

“During the quest, the tour mates will cook their own food, and they will do their own laundry and basically be self-sufficient. They will be given rewards for the well performed tasks and punishment for failing tasks. Some tasks may require that they nominate representatives to do a task for them,” said Maplanka.

Maplanka urged prospective participants to be themselves, from the way they talk to the way they dress during the auditions. He urged them to book in advance for places during auditions.

“Genuineness is what will help participants through. It is simple to get into the auditions. One just goes online and sends a video telling us why we should put them on the show on Whatsapp or if they are not on Whatsapp they just email us their video and pictures.

“If they are not on the two platforms, they just send us a text message declaring their interest. Once one has done this we will reserve a place for them at the auditions. If they have not sent any video one can turn up on audition day but they will have to wait to be served because we won’t have a pre-booked spot for them. What we are looking for are people with genuine interesting characteristics. There is a non refundable $5 registration fee,” he added.
