CONTEMPORARY musician, Braveman Chizvino Mawanza, affectionately known as Baba Harare has revealed that although life after Jah Prayzah has not been very rosy he does not regret dumping the Third Generation Band promising to up his game and prove a mettle in the music industry.
The talented lead guitarist and vocalist weaned himself from the multi-award winning musician after a highly-successful eight-year stint to form his own outfit, The City Vibration Band.
His groundbreaking 14-track album, Chikwama Changu has been fairly received and has received rave reviews on several local radio stations, particularly the song, Zindakupa, which features prolific songwriter and guitarist, Progress Chipfumo and Ibvai Pano featuring sungura ace, Alick Macheso.
Other songs on the album include, Sirivhiya, Chikwama Changu, We Need Peace, Champaign and Tsvimbo.
The Harare-based musician meets his Mutare fans for the first time when he performs at Club Mandisa tomorrow (Saturday).
“I am enjoying the experience (after leaving Jah Prayzah). As you know hakuna muchinjikwa uri nyore kufamba nawo, but so far so good. I am enjoying the solo ride and I do not regret at all leaving Jah Prayzah. As an in-born entertainer I vow to soldier on and keep entertaining my fans. “We are coming to Mutare in full force and we promise to put up a sterling performance. This will be our first time coming there and we know our fans will be expecting a polished performance. Our camp is bubbling with confidence,” said Baba Harare.
Show organisers have urged patrons and fun lovers to come in their numbers and be part of the lanky and dreadlocked musician’s maiden performance in the eastern border city.
“This show promises to be a thriller considering that Baba Harare is not new in the industry and has been a vital cog at Third Generation Band. We urge our patrons and fun lovers to attend in numbers the potentially-explosive gig,” said one of the organisers.
Resident dance group, Mandisa Queens will curtain raise Baba Harare’s gig.
Heir to the Utakataka Express throne, Peter Moyo recently put up a historic performance at the same venue last weekend.
The show stood out as the best ever in terms of attendance ever since the venue was rejuvenated two year ago.
