HEADMAN Karirayi Robson Bvumbura from Chimanimani District died at the age of 92 after succumbing to coronary cancer.He was laid to rest in Chimanimani.

Headman Bvumbura was born on December 14, 1924 in Mutambara where he spent the greater part of his youth before moving to Harare where he studied mechanics before being employed as a mechanic at Capital Car Breakers from 1964-1977.

Before that, he was also employed at Caltex from 1957-1960 as well as Old Mutual from 1950-1957.

During his youthful years while working as a mechanic, Headman Bvumbura like many youthful members of the society at that time was involved in the liberation politics.

He was detained at Gonakudzingwa from 1960-1962 before becoming restricted for 16 years.

After independence, Headman Bvumbura moved back to Mutambara and was involved in several community developmental projects before being installed as headman on August 26, 2006.

During his tenure as headman he spearheaded several projects for the people of his area including establishing the Tsuro Irrigation Scheme which has 30 beneficiaries.

At the time of his death, he had started fundraising to extend the scheme to accommodate more members especially youths.

He was also instrumental in the construction of Mutsamvu                       Primary School, saving many children from his area who used to travel more than 10km to the nearest school.

He is survived by two wives, 12 children, several grand children and great grand children.
