Dear Tete Barbara
I am a 38 year old woman with two children. Last year my marriage of 19 years ended after my husband’s brother spoke falsely about me.
As a professional who travels a lot around the country on assignments, I spend little time with my family, a set up that did not go down well with my husband’s people.

For many years there were whispers about me cheating but these accusations did not even rattle my marriage. While I was away my brother in-law introduced my husband to a lady who has now taken over everything that was mine.

I filed for a divorce after my husband suggested taking a second wife. A close relation confirmed my brother in-law organized everything. I thought it would be easy but i just can’t move on.

It is sad indeed that your marriage of close to 20 years ended on such a bad note, but there is life after divorce.

Do not reflect too much on what was and what could have been but on what is and what you want for your future. Your children are an important part of your life now and You have got to show up for them.

Perhaps you feel a bit guilty for reacting the way you did. Questioning a reaction that may seem somewhat impulsive is perfectly normal but living in the guilt of that moment and allowing it to entrap you is not.

Find closure to the experience by forgiving yourself, those that hurt you and forge your way forward into tomorrow. Sometimes having a heart to heart chat with your ex-husband is the closure you need.

Find out the truth from him and speak openly and honestly about your thoughts and feelings. I am sure he has his own side to the story.

Let your light shine and smile. You never know what you will discover in tomorrow until you step into it.
Keep moving.
