A SAKUBVA woman stunned the court last week when she revealed that her ex-husband said he wanted their child dead than to continue wasting his money paying maintenance.Precious Gombakomba revealed this at the Mutare Civil Courts after her ex-husband, Shungu Nyamhondera had dragged her to the courts where he had made a child access application.

Mutare magistrate, Miss Nyasha Kuture presided over the matter.

Gombakomba told the court that Nyamhondera was in the habit of complaining that their six-year-old child was better off dead as most of his money was going towards his upkeep.

“Since the day he was ordered to pay maintenance for the child he has been complaining and uttering words that a normal father would not. He says it would only be better if the child is dead as paying maintenance is a clear waste of his money.

“He says he regrets the day we sired the child. I am surprised and confused that he now wants access to the child he hates so much.

“Your Worship, this man has been a thorn in the flesh as we suffered a lot in his hands. He utters very hateful words and today’s application comes as a surprise. We stay only 100 metres apart and he has never visited to see his child. Now he drags me to court claiming he wants access to the child,” she said.

Nyamhondera, however, told the court that he had no access to his child.

“Your Worship, all I want is to have the child during school holidays, but my ex-wife refuses. I am not asking for the child’s custody, but only to have access. Please help me,” he begged the court.

He did not respond to the allegations that he wished the child dead.

Miss Kuture granted Nyamhondera three weeks access to his child during school holidays.
