A 14-YEAR-OLD Grade Seven pupil in Rusape will forever rue the day he sexually abused a two-year-old juvenile after he was sentenced to two years behind bars for the offence.

The pupil, whose name cannot be revealed because of his age, had his youthfulness to thank after the two-year prison sentence was set aside for the next five years on condition of good behaviour.

However, Rusape regional magistrate, Mr Livingstone Chipadza, did not let the boy go scot free as he sentenced him to receive four strokes  of ratter can administered at Rusape Prison.

The boy who was accompanied by his mother in the dock pleaded guilty to the offence, telling the court that he did not know what got into him to rape his neighbours’ daughter.

Rusape District prosecutor, Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira, told the court the accused person and the complainant stay at the same house were their parents are tenants and the boy took advantage of girl’s mother’s absence to abuse her.

“The accused and complainant’s parents are tenants at the same house in Vengere. On October 20, 2015 at around 9am, the girl’s mother left her and the accused playing while she went to fetch water at a nearby well.

“The boy called the young girl into his mother’s bedroom and raped her. After the rape the complainant left the bedroom and her mother noticed her sudden change of behaviour. She suspected that something might have happened.

“The complainant’s mother asked her what had happened and she revealed that the accused person had abused her.

“She took the complainant to hospital to be examined leading to the arrest of the accused person,” said Mr Mutyasira.
