Goat terrorises shoppers

THE grumpy animal charged at a 70-year-old customer who managed to escape injury when the shop manager dragged him into the store.

Shoppers were forced to flee and take refuge in their cars after an angry goat terrorised a store – and even attacked a pensioner.

The grumpy animal began its reign of terror by pressing its face up against the glass shop front, before turning its attention to innocent customers.

According to reports, the creature was loose for half an hour outside a Eurospar in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland and forced shoppers and staff members to take cover.

The store’s manager, Jonathan Smyth, told Mirror.co.uk: “It’s just something you didn’t expect.

“I turned around and there was a goat with this big eyes starring right at me.

“He held eye contact for about 30 seconds.”

Jonathan described how the animal stared at him before running around the car park and eating all the baskets of plants left outside the shop.

He added: “We have a pensioner named Billy who shops here and it charged at him and I grabbed him and dragged him through the door just in time before the goat crashed into the door.

“Billy was being attacked by a billy goat!”

Jonathan went on to explain that another woman waiting outside in the car park had got back in her vehicle after spotting the angry animal.

And as members of staff began to arrive for their shift, the goat charged at them, forcing them to jump in the woman’s car for safety.

At which point, the menacing goat then jumped up on its hind legs on the side of the vehicle. Eventually the goat was captured by a passer-by who grabbed it by the horns and walked it away.

But despite his ordeal, Jonathan admits that he’s already looking back on the incident and laughing.

He told the Carrickfergus Times: “It was great, it made my day. When I saw it I burst into stitches.”— Mirror Online
