Girlfriend stabbed to death

A 32-year-old man stabbed his Buhera girlfriend to death after accusing her of infecting him with HIV virus.

The man, Patrick Kashiri from Norton, stabbed Getrude Chamatumba four times on the chest last month.  Chamatumba suffered severe wounds in the chest, head, collar bone and was rushed to Murambinda hospital before being transferred to Mutare Provincial Hospital where she got admitted and discharged.

She was re-admitted at Murambinda hospital where she died last week. Manicaland Police Spokes person Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the death of Getrude Chamatumba (22) of N’anga village under chief Chisunga in Buhera. Inspector Kakohwa said that the accused paid a visit at the now deceased’s homestead.

“The accused, Patrick Kashiri and Gertrude Chamatumba were lovers. “Kashiri visited Chamatumba who stayed with her cousin brother Musa Bulani (20).The following day at around 0930hrs a misunderstanding arose between the two.

Kashiri accused Chamatumba of infecting him with HIV. Chamatumba later on went to take a bath. While bathing, Kashiri followed her and dragged her out of the bathroom naked. He stabbed her four times with an okapi knife,” said Inspector Kakohwa.

Kashiri is in police custody and will be charged with murder. Inspector Kakohwa urged people to desist from fighting and to solve their differences amicably.
