MUTARE hooligan, Clyde Jani (37) who has been on the run for the past one month finally turned himself in on Tuesday and was arraigned before the courts facing charges of robbery, malicious damage to property and two charges of assault.

Jani was not asked to plead when he appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mr Langton Mukwengi and was remanded out of custody to June 7 on $200 bail.

Jani was on the run after he allegedly assaulted Douglas Kombo (28) of Plot Number 1, Christmas Pass in Mutare, leaving him injured after unsuccessfully soliciting for cash from the latter.

It is alleged that when Kombo refused to give him the money, Jani with the help of some youths went on to assault him.

Prosecuting, Mr Fletcher Karombe told the court that on April 24, at around 3am and at Pick and Save in Mutare during a Jah Prayzer show, Jani unlawfully and intentionally used violence against Douglas Kombo in order to steal $1 700 and a wrist watch from him.

“He attacked him with fists, dragged him and poured beer on him.

“He went on to search him. Kombo sustained injuries, according to the medical report.

“Jani proceeded to the car park where Kombo was parking his Toyota Hilux, Registration Number ACU1799 and broke the front windscreen using a metal object.

“He opened the fuel cap and bonnet and poured sugar into the fuel tank, radiator and in the engine.

“He went on to dislodge the right car view mirror and fled from the scene,” said Mr Karombe.
