A FORMER Zanu-PF ward chairperson who is currently serving a jail term after being convicted by a Mutare court on fraud charges has been arraigned before the courts facing more fraud charges.

Archibel Mudadirwa (64) who is alleged to have duped desperate jobseekers denied the charges when he appeared before Mutare provincial magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura.

He is alleged to have contravened Section 136 (a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.

Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.

It is alleged that sometime in July 2015, Mudadirwa who was the then Zanu-PF chairman for Ward 16 approached Susan Charuma and told her that he was looking for people to work at the Consolidated Diamond Mining Company. After Charuma showed interest in the offer, Mudadirwa is alleged to have asked for $100 which he said was processing fee and the money was to be accompanied by her Curriculum Vitae.

“Charuma later gave Mudadirwa $100 together with her CV. She was promised to start work at the mine after two weeks, but after the time lapsed Charuma started giving numerous excuses,” said Mr Karombe.

When Charuma finally realised that she had been defrauded she made a police report which led to his arrest.

Responding to the allegations, Mudadirwa denied ever knowing Charuma and said he was being framed by someone who hated him. Charuma defended himself in court saying he does not know the complainant.

“Your Worship, I do not even know this person who is accusing me of defrauding her,” he said.

The matter was adjourned to March 3, 2017 for trial. Mudadirwa was convicted by Mutare magistrate, Miss Tracy Muzondo sometime in December 2016, for defrauding another woman of $1 100 in a dubious Greenside residential stand deal. He was ordered to restitute the complainant then.
