MUTARE’s hip-hop artiste David Mutanda, fondly known as Flexxo, has collaborated with talented Germany-based chanter I –Finton to produce a new Extended Play titled Jakachaka.

The EP hit the streets last week.
We have been planning to work on a collection of music with I-Finton for a long time. We are working on a four track extended play called Jakachaka. It carries tracks such as Ngatijakije, Madhara ati pfee, Jakachaka and Kudenga kune machikichori. We have plans to also release a 12 track album end of this year,” he said.

“The track Ngatijakije urges people to be self-sufficient while Jakachaka and Kudenga Kune Machikichori are gospel tracks that talk about what heaven is like.

“I have a few gospel songs still to be released, and this is my first time to sing gospel music. I felt it is important to talk about heaven and remind people that even if we struggle on earth there is a place where we shall rest,” he said.

I-Finton confirmed the latest developments.

“I am a singer, song writer-guitarist and a versatile musician who can dive in any genre when it permits, but mainly focused on reggae and afro pop.

“I have two EPs under my belt and this one with Flexxo makes it the third and the first collaboration. I have known Flexxo since 2006 and we have been in touch even though I am no longer staying in Zimbabwe. We decided to work on this EP so as to promote the album with Flexxo. I am currently working with Jamaram band right now and our EP will be released in May.

“When I was still in Zimbabwe I used to sing but never got so much recognition and maybe it is because I was not that serious,” he said.

I-Finton whose (real name Tapiwa Mumbure) is a Zimbabwe artiste who is now based in Germany.

He grew up in Dangamvura, Mutare and later moved to Germany to extend his music career. He did his high school education at St Mary’s Magdalene’s in Manicaland.
