A RUSAPE man who had a blossoming incestuous love affair with his underage step-daughter has been arrested and jailed four years for the abominable offence. Felix Masamba (32) of Mutungwazi Village in Nyazura who was initially charged with rape had
his daughter-cum lover (16) to thank after she proudly told the court that she was not raped, but had consented to the sexual act with his step-father.
Masamba who was not represented and pleaded guilty to incest will, however, serve three effective years after Rusape regional magistrate, Mr Livingstone Chipadza suspended one year on condition of good behaviour.
Rusape District prosecutor, Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira, told the court that Masamba was intimate with his step-daughter in a mountain where they were fetching mushroom and the matter came to light after suspicious villagers tipped the police.
“On an unknown date during the month of April 2016, the accused person proceeded to the mountain with the complainant and Innocent Mukoreka to fetch for some mushroom. While they were looking for the mushroom, Masamba instructed Innocent Mukoreka to remain behind as he proceeds with the complainant to fetch for some more mushroom.
“After walking for a short distance, Masamba asked the teenager for sexual favours and she consented. After the act, Masamba instructed the teenager to go home with Mukoreka Chikoreka home.
“The teenager did not tell anyone of the incident until July 28, 2016 when a tip-off reached Constable Dzambatsira leading to the accused’s arrest. The girl was medically examined,” said Mr Mutyasira.
