A CHIGODORA woman is seeking the court’s protection after receiving endless death threats from her neighbour over a land dispute.Faresi Muringapasi told the court that Maud Kumura was in the habit of threatening to kill her and her children after she was evicted by the Mutare Civil Courts’ from Muringapasi’s land.
She further stated that Kumura was also ordered by the chief to stop farming on her land sometime last year.
The pair appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mrs Yeukai Chigodora.
“She has been threatening to kill me for the past four months and I am now living in fear Your Worship, it would be best if the court protects me.

“This is all because of a land dispute that I have since won at both the traditional and the magistrates’ courts. She is not happy with the outcomes and now comes to my house threatening to kill me and my children. We usually lock ourselves inside the house when she shouts at us,” said Muringapasi.
Kumura, however, could not hear any of it. She told the court that both orders were unfair.
“Your Worship, I had prepared my land and had planted, but Muringapasi came and planted her own crops.
“She went further and destroyed my houses, but I did not say anything.
“I just moved out and till now I have not seen her.
“This messy scene happened in 2003 and I have not seen her since.
“I wonder why she is lying to the court that I am harassing and threatening to kill her and her children when I last saw her 13 years ago,” she said.
Mrs Chigodora told the pair that if they were not agreeing on the boundary dispute they had to approach the District Administrator’s office for assistance.
However, a binding over protection order was granted between the two women.
