THE RUSAPE woman who in 2014 helped to fake her husband’s death and claimed pensions and other benefits from Old Mutual Funeral Services and National Social Security Authority is back in court again.

Primrose Jecha (22) who is currently serving a five-year jail term after she was convicted of misrepresenting facts that her husband had died to defraud Old Mutual Funeral Services by a Rusape court was last week fined $200 after she pleaded guilty to fresh fraud charges.

She was being charged with fraud as defined under Section 136 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23. Jecha appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Poterai Gwezhira. Prosecuting was Mr Matthew Chimutunga.

It was alleged that on July 7, 2014, Jecha hatched a plan to defraud NSSA.

“Knowing well that her husband, David Garudzo is still alive, she misrepresented that he had passed away and obtained a death certificate,” said Mr Chimutunga.

She went to NSSA, Mutare with claim forms to claim the funeral grant for her husband and acting on the misrepresentation, NSSA, Mutare paid Jecha $300. On September 24, 2016, NSSA, Mutare deposited $927,93 into Jecha’s CABS bank account. The money was meant for survivor grant.

However, on October 7, 2016, NSSA came to know that it had been defrauded by Jecha since her husband was still alive. Amount defrauded from NSSA was $1 227, 93 and nothing was recovered.
