EYEBROWS are the latest fashionable fade. Unfortunately with many fashion fades we adopt, we do not have a thorough knowledge of the fashion. So I thought I would give you information that may come handy when you are doing your eyebrows.
When you think about it, we spend a fair amount of our lives grooming our faces for various reasons, be it to exfoliate, bleach, moisturise or pluck/thread. Of all the features that make up our face, have you ever wondered what the story behind eyebrows is? What is their purpose? This overlooked facial feature plays quite an important role and is actually rather intriguing as it has some unique properties.
The arched shape of your eyebrows actually serves a purpose in keeping rain and sweat away from your eyes. In fact, it is designed to expertly guide these liquids down the side of your face without you even knowing it. Nature really did think of everything!
Eyebrows signal your expressions. If you are surprised, your eyebrows move upwards and you can often feel this movement in your face. Drawing on an eyebrow tattoo will not really change this as there is muscle placed where your eyebrows are that control this movement… so unless you decide to place the drawn eyebrow in some obscure spot on your forehead, this should pretty much remain the same!
Although the concept of an eyebrow tattoo is new, if you are under the impression that shaping eyebrows through plucking or threading is also new, then you are mistaken. The practice of eyebrow grooming is something dating back thousands of years to the times of the Romans and Greeks although their methods were of course different, yet sophisticated in their own way.
If you feel that your eyebrows make you look funny, well they probably do. Did you know your eyebrow shape is largely dependent on your face shape? The four main face shapes include square, round, oval and heart all of which have their own features.
How you pluck your eyebrows according to this will accentuate these features instead of dumbing them down. If you opt for semi-permanent makeup as an option for your eyebrows such as an eyebrow tattoo, your linergist will spend some during your consultation determining the best shape for your face. Unlike with natural brows, if you get it wrong they will not grow.
An eyebrow is estimated to have approximately over 1 000 hairs before grooming ie au-naturel. Once you wax, thread or pluck this amount reduces significantly to just above 200. Imagine that over 1 000 hairs! You probably went to the mirror to count them out just to be sure.
I am being asked quite a lot about semi permanent or tattoo eyebrows. I have nothing against them, especially if it is for someone with no eyebrows growing. But note that as convenient as it can be for some to opt for semi-permanent makeup, you should always do a background check on the staff as well as salon and their treatments.
Once it is on your face, you cannot wipe it off with facial wipes or wash it off. It is there for months if not years.
