RONNIE Mudhindo’s musical journey is not complete without the mentioning of his early days with the late Tongai “Dhewa” Moyo and Utakataka Express band. The reference involves both sweetness and sourness.

Utakataka fans may remember the song Samanyemba when Dhewa chanted, “Aka ndiRonnie, Samanyemba yaya yaya, Samanyemba.” That was sweet. Things seem to have taken a twist when Ronnie departed from Utakataka after their recording of Chingwa album.

Analysts think that the late singer penned the song Muchina Muhombe in retaliation to Ronnie when he sang: “Aripo akakunyepera kuti watova muchina muhombe.” (Someone fooled you that you are now a heavy machine). What a sour end to a work relationship!

Today, the Kwekwe-born Mudhindo, nicknamed Vazvamburi, is really a heavy machine leading Orchestra Vazvamburi band.

He will be launching his fifth album, Dhara Harimhanyi tomorrow (Saturday) at a hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In an interview from his Rustenburg base in South Africa, the 40-year-old singer who also doubles as a designer and is the brand Ambassador of money transfer entity, Mukuru.com indicated that the six-track album is a business and social commentator.

Said Mudhindo: “A lot of newcomers, be they people or businesses employ shortcuts and unorthodoxy means to get to the top. Anyone worth his/her taste doesn’t rush for positions and success. That is why I am saying Dhara Harimhanyi (the worthy doesn’t rush).”

The Mukuru.com-bankrolled launch shall be free for all.

Eleven other Zimbabwean artistes who include Ngwenya Brothers, Sugar Sugar, Ngundu Sounds, Leonard Hlungwani (Lenso) and the sizzling, Peter Mathonsi will perform at the gala.

“I shall be promoting the new album at Mukuru.com roadshows in Swaziland, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. I thank all stakeholders and fans for the great support they are giving me,” said Mudhindo.
