Ex-cop steals from supermarket

A FORMER member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police was last week arrested for stealing from a Mutare supermarket.

Marshal Mutimusakwa (29) from Dangamvura was this week convicted of theft when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Innocent Bepura. He was convicted on his own guilty plea.

He was facing theft charges as defined in Section 113 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23

Appearing for the State, Mr Brian Goto, said on March 16, Mutimusakwa stole groceries from a supermarket along Herbert Chitepo Street in Mutare.

The groceries included four Sharnel weaves, 2kg Mega Value Rice, 2-litres cooking oil, 750g polony, 2-litres Blackberry Mazowe, 750ml Viceroy, 500g Iris biscuits, 2x2kgs chickens and 100ml grape mixture.

The only thing that he paid for was a plastic bag. He was ordered to pay $50 fine or spend 10 days in prison.
