LOCAL rising gospel artiste, Ellen Anderson teamed up with son and prolific producer, Olin to come up with a complete gospel package, “Anesu Mwari”, which seeks to uplift souls of the downtrodden.

The duo, this time seems to have struck the right chords as evidenced by well-arranged instrumentation and powerful vocals which were neatly intertwined.

The song, “Ranganai”, for instance, carries the Blessing Shumba-inspired beat and soulful lyrics which will certainly appeal to most of their fans.  Ironically, Olin is Shumba’s keyboardist and producer and his influence on Ellen’s project is heavily felt.

“Ranganai seeks to motivate listeners to stick to the Bible’s teachings in all situations. ‘‘Most Christians usually stumble and allow themselves to be used by the devil because of the hardships they will be in. It is also a prayer to listeners to remain steadfast when friends and relatives turn their back on us,” said Ellen.

Other songs on the album are ‘‘Muponesi Wedu’’, ‘‘Kurarama Kwangu’’, ‘‘Akataendeka’’, ‘‘Ndinoita Zvose’’ and ‘‘Dzorai Meso’’. Another potential hit, Shirikadzi, motivates widows and orphans to pin their hope and find comfort in God.

Ellen, who is backed by The Vision Band, paid tribute to gospel icon, Blessing Shumba and his wife, Pauline for being pillars of strength. She will this year unveil a DVD album to accompany the newly-released album.

The silky-voiced singer’s debut album, ‘‘Mwari Vanoziva’’, was released in 2015.  Some of the tracks on the album include, ‘‘Chisimbiso’’, ‘‘Kutsauswa, Murume’’, ‘‘Farai Munashe’’, ‘‘Mirira, Seiko’’, ‘Mufundisi’ and ‘‘Bhuku Reupenyu’’.

Her previous album, ‘‘Nguva YaMwari’’ features Blessing Shumba and Lawrence Haisa on songs, ‘‘With God’’ and ‘‘Ndichaimbira Jehovha’’ respectively.
