EDITORIAL COMMENT : Victim of Satanism needs urgent help

The ManicaPost

Satanism is one of the most controversial and abhorred belief systems in Zimbabwe, in whatever expression it takes.
It is an emotive concern in our society because it is on the rise as many young people are being initiated into bizarre ritualistic adventure unaware, while the conscious ones do it either seeking wealth, power, spiritual identity, knowledge, among other desires.

Trends have shown that this phenomenon cuts across urban and rural limits.

It’s a big national problem.

The media often reports of stories of young children being kidnapped and developing signs of insanity only to be found later as victims of some bizarre ritualistic crime.

Elsewhere in this publication we carry a sad story of a 12-year old Mutare girl, who was born normal until recently when she was allegedly initiated into Satanism by a friend.

Unlike in the past, the child has developed a deviant insatiable and abhorrent crave for human flesh and blood and often becomes violent upon restraint.

This is not suprising because Satanism is associated with horror, sacrifice of animals and violent crimes committed in the name of devil.

Satanism offers its lure to the youth in our society. Power has become an obsession with young Satanists. It is sought after on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels.

The greatest lure into the occult is knowledge and money.

Drugs and sex have become the bait that so often ensnare the unsuspecting.

The love for personal power and gaining knowledge that others do not possess is another aspect of the occult.

The Mutare case is heart wrenching, and the child is already out of school probably until such a time a remedial solution is found to the condition.

This compromises her chances of acquiring knowledge.

We strongly condemn the deliberate initiation of unsuspecting children into Satanism because it can drive the victims insane, and insanity is demonic.

The Satanists do this deliberately because having more knowledge afford them a degree of power over the victim who does not have access to that knowledge.

The child, in visions, sees the said friend and the mother with a hyena, which in the African traditional context, is associated with witchcraft.

Satanists are capable of such macabre cruelty because their religion is associated with virtues pride, independence, individuality, knowledge, achievement, self-thinking and exploring unknown and forbidden realms.

This is why according to the Bible, God chucked Satan from heaven.

Zimbabwe is a Christian State, and we regard God as all-good and Satan as evil.

The traditional Christian doctrine we are exposed to as a nation teaches us that the main evil thing Satan is committed is leading people away from Christ and those initiated into this ritualistic adventure are antisocial because they worship the devil.

Satan is presented in the Bible as the chief enemy of God and the most evil being in the universe.

It is the chief evil spirit and we regard such practice by his followers with ridicule or scepticism because it is against conventional morality, religious assumptions and antithetical to all the pillars of societal decency.

The affected Mutare girl needs help urgently, and it is our hope and trust that she gets it soon, so that she can go back to pursue her studies.
