ED mature, suitable President Mnangagwa

POLITICS is not for the faint-hearted and neither is it for pretenders.

While some political opportunists have exploited certain moments to land positions either in their political parties or in Parliament, it has been difficult for most of them to justify their occupation of those positions.

Although opposition has been healthy to Zimbabwe’s politics, apart from the sanctions it brought, most opposition members have survived not necessarily because  they are good at what they do but as a result of the masses’ lack of options if l may say.

Mr Morgan Tsvangirai (May his soul rest in peace) was one good example of a man who took advantage of a desperate situation to find himself at the helm of opposition politics for almost two decades but because of his serious leadership deficiencies he still found himself unable to undo Robert Mugabe.

While there has been talk of rigging and manipulation of previous polls, still Tsvangirai could have done better if he was wise, shrewd and tactical because he had protesting people behind him and was backed by powerful biased nations.

With all those advantages he ended up dining and wining with Mugabe and even liking him and eventually passing on without achieving his party’s and his supporters’ goal of taking over the leadership of the country.

Now with Nelson Chamisa as its new president and more importantly, the MDC alliance presidential candidate, the hope of an MDC electoral victory is fast fading.

Yes, some people are making the same mistake of dreaming that Chamisa will win the next election, it is quite unfortunate for them to do so because the late Tsvangirai had many factors in his favour during his time but he still failed. Chamisa does not have those same advantages and I am afraid many are going to suffer fatal political heartbreaks.

Back then, MDC was solid but now it’s fragmented with squabbling marking the order of the day though they claim to be an Alliance.

Back then MDC had lots of funding but now they are broke. Many people believed in them as a credible alternative to ZANU-PF but as we speak many of the same people have become disillusioned by the opposition party’s failure to unseat ZANU-PF and worse still the on going power struggles.

Chamisa himself might be eloquent in speech as some people want us to believe but eloquence and fact or sensibility are two different things.

Given a choice I will choose fact or sensibility but if I can have eloquence and fact or sensibility then the better.

Speak well yes but speak sense. Chamisa is proving to be immature if utterances attributed to him are anything to go by.

He has been attacking President Mnangagwa at any given opportunity but he is failing to notice that ED is not into duels but production and delivery.

Bullet trains do not fix the economy but attracting investment and sound austerity measures will. Challenging ED to a duel on TV does not bring food on the table but winning back the confidence of financiers industry and other partners is more important.

Chamisa maybe a good lawyer; am not sure about this, but he certainly is not a good politician. Some people, a few I believe, are counting on his age to win an election but that’s being very unwise and immature.

Apart from calling for more sanctions on the country, the MDC and specifically Chamisa cannot even give a convincing plan for the good of the country.

Adv Chamisa

Chamisa promises to fix the liquidity crisis two weeks after assuming power and the question is how will he manage to do, if it happens then it means the sanctions they deny are real and now that their handlers will be happy because they will be in power they will then flood our economy with their currency but that’s not economically practical because everything comes at a cost.

ED is a distinguished liberation cadre. He is also a lawyer. ED has been in Government holding various important portfolios including his last assignment as Vice-President.

He is a businessman and it’s not a crime as Chamisa would want us to believe. ED demonstrated great restraint and maturity when he was embarrassed and accused of many unfounded allegations by the now disgraced Grace Mugabe. ED has managed to forgive his abusers though some of the forgiven have not reciprocated the same good gesture.

ED has managed to handle the delicate transitional new dispensation with astounding calmness and maturity.

In the few months that he has been in office ED has managed to rebrand the country and positively change investors’ perception.

Business worth $7 billion has so far been negotiated with some deals already signed and sealed. ED is not busy attacking individuals but the number one enemy of the people of Zimbabwe, which is poverty and an under-performing economy and the greatest threat to ED’s good and noble efforts are Chamisa’s careless utterances, which are bend on having the powerful countries, which have sanctioned our country continue to do so until MDC rules this country.

Otherwise President Mnangagwa is more mature and suitable for the office of president while Chamisa is still very raw and unfit.
