Easter defining moment of Christianity

Evangelist Peter Madondo
As the world anticipates the Easter holidays, it is only noble to have an introspect on the circumstances entailed to the Holy holidays. God from the creation of the World had crafted the eternal plan of salvation.

The plan had to come through his beloved son Jesus Christ regardless of the excruciating pains that were hinged to the accomplishment of the great plan.

Isaiah 53 : 5 ” But he was pieced for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon him and by his wounds we are healed” This is the cog of Christianity and everything we celebrate about Easter comes from this background. It is imperative for everyone who subscribes to the Lordship of Jesus to be conscious about this understanding and thus act in harmony with the thrust of Jesus

The gospel simply interpreted as the birth, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus will never be completely cherished without commemoration the later part of the definition. The death, burial and resurrection which dealt the final blow to the devil who had rigorously taken the war against the seed of the woman to unprecedented levels.

It is the victory of Jesus over death that dethroned the eternal enemy of mankind Jesus. Despite the fact that the devil enjoyed a hilarious two days when Jesus was in the grave all the joy was brought to an abrupt halt upon his conquering of the sting of death by rising on the third day.

It is this uniqueness that Jesus rose from the dead that today over a billion people across the world are going to be celebrating this holiday dubbed the Easter. It is not a surprise that multitudes will enjoy the holiday that is supposed to be holy and spiritual. Acts 2:22 reiterates that the Jesus whom you crucified God made him victorious and made him Lord and King.

It is this victory that Christianity is defined for we see the first thousands of people accepting Jesus and being baptised and brought to life the gigantic movement called Christianity.

I will surely then be forgiven if I emphasise that Easter (The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus) defines Christianity. Without the combination of the afore highlighted aspects then Christianity is futile.

As we all get geared and plan for the grand holiday, it is my plea to all and sundry that please spare a thought for the Messiah. As we plan to go gallivanting over the holidays let us do so with full responsibility, fully knowing that the holidays came to be with unimaginable pains that the Lord Jesus endured.

Let Easter be a time to reflect, rethink and realign our lives with Jesus. As some shall be marching in the streets bearing crosses, let us not just view the cross as a piece of wood or metal but as the epitome of our salvation. There was enormous humiliation, disgrace and despise but all that was a price for your freedom and mine.

Let us get spiritual and a generation that God will take pride in.

It is my humble prayer that all those who shall be travelling will ensure there is no blood bath on our roads.

Happy EASTER
