Driver fined for draining fuel

A GREEN Fuel driver was on Monday fined $200 for draining fuel from ethanol producer’s haulage truck.

Joseph Imbayarwo (30), of Plot 200, Buffalo Range, Chiredzi appeared before Chipinge magistrate Mr Farai Gwitima facing theft charges.

He pleaded not guilty, but the court found him guilty after overwhelming incriminating evidence against him was adduced by the State during trial.

Magistrate Gwitima sentenced Imbayarwo to a wholly suspended six months jail term on condition that he restitutes Green Fuel the 162 litres of diesel that he had stolen and pays a fine of $200.

Prosecutor Mr Givemore Nyamayaro proved beyond any reasonable doubt that on September 26, 2017 around 0100hrs, and at Parogate area, Checheche growth point, Imbayarwo unlawful drained 162 litres of diesel from the truck registration number ABS 8199, which he was driving.

“The accused person was arrested after the complainant received information from Green Fuel employee Chris Vhutuza who monitors the car tracking devices to the effect that the accused had committed the offence as shown by the computer system of the tracking machine.

The printouts from the vehicle tracking device, which detailed how the convict committed the offence was produced in court as exhibit.
