TALENTED artistes and artists in Mutare will tomorrow (Saturday) clash at this year’s edition of Dreamstar talent showcase to be held at Golden Peacock Villa Hotel.The talent showcase will see scores of people from ages between 12 and 40 from the eastern border city battling it out in categories such as singing, dancing, beat-boxing, traditional dancing, poetry, drama and comedy among others.
It starts at 9am.
Those who will win the hearts of the three adjudicators on the day will qualify for the regional finals to be held on a later date in Harare.
The talent show is organised by Dreamstar, an entertainment platform which was established by the Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe and Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation.
Among other objectives, it seeks to empower talented youths of Zimbabwe who are in the arts and culture industry to help them move from the backstage to the official stage and make their dreams come true.
JCMC is an organisation that aims to build strong networks and relationships with local and global partners in arts and entertainment industry by promoting and supporting Zimbabwean arts and culture through the effective use of media campaigns.
In an interview, one of the organisers, said the show was also meant to bring together and capacitate youths of Zimbabwe aged between 12 and 40.
“We aim to provide these young and talented youths with the opportunity to transition from using their talent recreationary and informally to becoming recognised world stars, while at the same time earning a living. Preparations are at an advanced stage and we would like to urge talented people to come in their numbers and showcase their talents,” said one of the organisers.
Top 10 finalists who will be chosen from across the country will have a grand opportunity to travel to China on tour for two to three weeks giving them the much needed exposure and experience of performing at some of China’s major festivals.
Academic scholarships and employment opportunities will also be provided for outstanding individuals and groups.
