MUTARE’S sole top-flight rugby franchise Mutare Sports Club received a major boost after Zimpapers donated a new playing kit as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.
Manicaland Rugby Board chairman Josiah Borerwe expressed his gratitude to Zimpapers and said they longed for a relationship with the company.
“As Mutare Sports Club, we are very grateful to Zimpapers. The donation will go a long way in motivating our players. It will benefit us a lot. We are looking forward to a long term relationship with Zimpapers. This is not the first time that Zimpapers has helped us. Mr Mandimutsira once made a donation that helped our Sahumani girls to travel to South Africa.
“We also have a good relationship with Manica Post as well as Diamond FM. They have really provided coverage for us and that has helped us gain mileage. We are humbled by such a gesture,” he said.
Mutare Sports Club captain Blessing ‘Zubba’ Chizaza said he was grateful to Zimpapers.
“We are just grateful for the generous kit donation, it shows that our local corporates are behind us and supporting us as we develop rugby in the province.
“We hope to further develop our relationship into the next season and I hope Zimpapers’ donation is a challenge to other local corporates to help support and develop sport in Manicaland as a whole,” he said.
Handing over the kit, Manicaland Bureau Chief Obert Chifamba said Zimpapers was proud to be involved in developmental projects in Mutare and Manicaland province as a whole adding that the donation was a gesture to thank the Mutare community for its unwavering support throughout the years.
